Here at the Center we teach social dance as a language. In our lesson program, dancers learn dance patterns, techniques, timing, along with lead & follow skills as well as learning how to make the dance flow. Enjoy a conversation in dance to a beautiful waltz, a fun loving Fox Trot, or take a trip to the Savoy Ballroom, 1930 and learn the history and moves once danced by the masters who created this true American dance.
New year’s, Halloween, Valentine’s day, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries are just a few things we celebrate at the Center. Bring a friend, make it a date night, change up your family fun with ballroom dancing, or come along and enjoy one of the Center’s social dance parties. The Center can come to your workplace and create a team building experience though social dance or add some dancing to your work event.
The Social Dance Project is designed to bring ballroom dance to school children grades 3rd through 12th. The outreach effort is open to all schools in the Greater Lansing area and is committed to building relationships within the school community and at the Center. The Center for Social Dance believes that every child should have the opportunity to learn the art of dance, its history, and the impact social dance has on society.
